Prepared IDC Ribbon CableIn addition to bulk cable,the US Engineering CableAssembly Group offers

Prepared Cable for the .100[2.54] and .156 [3.96] cen-terline cables. This can bein the form of prenotchedcable on reels or cut-to-length cable segments.Prenotched 250 foot reelsof cable can be producedwith notches at varyingincrements or repeating allalong the cable. The maxi-mum width of these cables

is 20 conductor for the .100[2.54] centerline and 13conductor for the .156[3.96] centerline.

Prepared Cable is alsoavailable with a Strip andRetain feature allowing thecable assembly to be sol-dered directly to the PCBoard. This saves spaceand cost and reduces

spare parts inventory. Stripand Retain on both ends isused in family board appli-cations to maintain the

IDC Ribbon Cableelectrical connection whenthe PC Board is separatedinto smaller boards aftersoldering. Widths are limitedto 20 conductors for the.100 [2.54] centerline and13 conductors for the .156[3.96] centerline. However,multiple cables can beplaced side-by-side in asingle connector.
