Education in school
Nowadays, parents generally tend to send their children to school when they are in a very young age. What’s more, parents are eager to make them get in touch with superior education. Most parents firmly believe that, the earlier children are exposed to knowledge, the more they will learn, of course, the brighter their future will be.
Well, I just want to ask: what is education? What’s education for? What’s the aim of education in school?
Maybe in most people’s eyes, education is just a skill-training for a good job. Only if the children learn more, what they can do is more. It’s well known that the skill is very important to an interview.
Yes, it’s true that education can teach us some skills, but it’s also true that education not only teach us skills. To be frank, we need money. We need a good job to raise ourselves. However we are not only live for the money. Just like someone has said, we are eat to live, not live to eat. We should know that the benefits of education are far from what we can imagine.
As William Makepeace Thackeray said: Sow virtue, and the harvest will be virtue. Sow vice, and the harvest will be vice. As
far as I am concerned, school is a field where we sow our dream, and where we attend it until it become strong. What’s more, it’s also a place where we study, where we grow up, where we know about the world and where we acquire knowledge.
It’s the education that gives a man a clear, conscious view of his own opinions and judgments, a truth in developing them, an eloquence in expressing them, and a force in urging. Sure it’s the education that cultivates our minds and raises our intellectual. It’s the education that let us know what is wrong and what is right. And it’s the education that let us know what we should not do and what we should do. We should clearly know it’s the education make us live better.
Therefore, we should not simply say education is just a job-training. On one hand, it’s school that makes people confused by stressing the skill unilaterally. On the other, it is parents that pay much more attention to the skill to a job. So they are not to be blame.
Remember that education is the first step we should take, if we want to be a civilized person. And it’s also the first step which leads us to success.
In a word, education is a means and not an end. The future is long, and we still have many things to learn. Never be arrogant at
present, you should move ahead to find a more successful of yourself.
