Beijing No. 39 Middle School
Beijing No.39 Middle School is a secondary school with over 80 years history. Its predecessor was the late Qing dynasty Guanghua Girls and Cardinal Tien College, established in 1946, two boarding parochial schools. Beijing government combined the two school to Beijing No. 39 Middle School in 1952. With the advanced educational tradition, the school has cultivated large amount of talents. This is a secondary school with both traditional culture and modernized atmosphere.
Location and surroundings
Beijing No. 39 Middle School is located in Xihuangchenggen North Street, Xicheng District in Beijing, which is located in the center of Beijing,Zhongnanhai, the seat of the CPC Central Committee the south, north spacious Ping Street, east wall separates the Xishiku church and the west is bustling Xidan commercial district, is the a nearly century-old modern schools, rich cultural and energetic.
School environment and facilities
The current school buildings were completed in 2002 August. With the financial support of nearly 200 million RMB from both district and city governmental levels, the main building is about 6 floors in the new campus. The building covers the area of 18,000 square meters, with 32 classrooms including Chemistry labs, Physics labs, Biology labs, computer room, art classroom, music
classroom, and multimedia rooms. Library, reading room, multifunction hall, reporting hall, gym, Pingpang room, sports room and swimming pool are all open to students widely. There are girls dormitory and boys dormitory buildings next to the main building, which are for international students, with buffet and international restaurant inside. The playground is with plastic tracks, artificial grass on basketball courts and badminton courts.
School scale and characteristics
With 10 international classes out of 24 teaching classes in all, there are almost 1,000 students in our school. Our school intake sizeble young teachers with professional knowledge teaching in our school. For international students, they are in smaller sized classes (about 15 people for one class), and are tutored one to one. With the recently years development, international department has made a satisfying improvement for No. 39 Middle School. 80% students achieved the goals of HSK, 100% students entered to their ideal university. We cultivated more than 180 students to Qinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University, Fudan University, Beijing Normal University, BICU, California State University, Tokyo University, etc. From 2003 to 2008.
Living conditions and facilities
In terms of student dormitory management, with the principle of safety and normative living management, No. 39 Middle School makes a great job to build up a safe, comfortable and harmonious living environment. The students stay in
double bed rooms, and living tutors could be found 24 hours. Laundry rooms and self-studying room as available as well. International restaurant is as a buffet meal supplied for the students. They offer various countries flavor and especially Chinese and Korean cuisine, which are deeply welcomed by students and their parents.
Students Life
In Beijing, which is an international metropolis, the best way to understand and learn Chinese culture is study and live in the city. International Department organize students not only to visit the historical spots, such as the Great Wall, Forbidden city, Beihai Part, Summer Palace, etc. but also to watch many cultural shows including Peking Opera, Chinese Martial Arts, and Acrobats. As the language practical activities, students will have the chance to normal local life such as they will go to market, bank, post office, company, factory and villiage. Besides, we also have many activities inside campus, like birthday party, football match, Chinese Speech contest, Chinese Night and Comics Festival. And sometimes the students go out of Beijing for other domestic travelling in holidays to experience more colorful China and Chinese culture.
