序言

Posture

It expresses one’s indifference, submission, doubt or having no alternative. When one is puzzled about something, he often takes this posture.

表示漠不关心、屈从、疑惑或无可奈何。当一个人对某事感到莫名其妙时,常常会做这一姿势。

It drops a hint of complacency. It can also express that someone is fed up with or angry about something, or it is simply an unmindful manner.

It gives people an impression of arrogance. In social activities, most people dislike talking with this kind of person because this gesture may suggest threat to others.

2、 身势

Gesture

Shrugging one's shoulders can express that one is indifferent, powerless or having no secret to conceal.

Bow: Deep bow is seldom used in some English-speaking countries except on the very special occasions when people mourn or lower their heads to say prayers for the dead.

Bending one’s waist and legs, lowering the body and laying open the hands may express apology and acknowledge of one’s error. If customers find the goods they’ve purchased unsatisfactory and ask for a refund with anger, the boss and the shop assistant often use it to apologize.

Nodding: It's a very polite act often used in English-speaking countries when people say hello or good-bye to each other. When greeting or seeing someone off, nodding is also used to express salute to people like shaking hands. It’s the simplest courteous way to greet many people simultaneously . 点头:这是英语国家常见的礼貌动作,一般用于与别人打招呼或分手时道别。在迎送场合,点头和握手一样,是向许多人同时致敬的最简便的礼貌动作。

Taking off one's headgear It's often used when gentlemen express respect to women and say hello or good-bye to women.

Kissing a lady’s hand: It’s the general etiquette used to show respect to honorable women in western countries.

4、 腿部动作

Leg movement

Standing with two legs crossed shows one’s self-protection or self-defending. It's often seen between strangers.

站立时两脚交叉往往是一种自我保护或封闭防御的姿势,在陌生人面前这种姿势很常见。

Stretching out one’s arms, legs with one’s toe towards the other speaker can be the gesture used when friends or acquaintances talk about something friendly and openly.

5、头部动作

Head gesture

People in some English-speaking countries often hail someone to come near by raising the head.

Using forehead and chin to give directions. The Chinese people often use lips while the westerners often use the lower palate.

可用前额和下巴指点方向。中国人用双唇,而英语国家的人则是下腭噘起。

In western countries, when people show anger, disappointment, tedium or anxiety, sometimes they face upward and smack the mouth. At the same time, they also blink their eyes or roll the eyeballs upward or toward one side.

Face gesture

In some English-speaking countries, this is regarded as an act to cover up the lies, as if one tries to prevent lies from going out of his mouth.

It is also a motion to cover up one’s lies. Using forefinger to rub across one’s nose is another way to conceal one’s feeling.

Smile

The feelings of Chinese are very implicit. Joy, anger, grief and happiness can rarely be seen on their faces. A Chinese will greet his guests with a smile even when his family bears bitter sufferings, while a person in English-speaking countries will never conceal his inner grief when he suffers from unhappiness.

中国人感情过于含蓄,喜怒哀乐常常不形于色,即使家庭遭遇了不幸也要对客人笑脸相迎。

9、 臂部动作

Arm gesture

When standing or walking, a person may put his two arms on the back with one hand holding the other wrist to show his frustration or the control of one’s feeling.

Making a fist and throwing out one’s forefinger like holding out a stick can show that one compels the opposite side to obey, therefore it may easily irritate him.

Eye movement

Looking at the opposite side in a talk expresses one’s courtesy. 交谈中注视对方表示礼貌。

Eyes looking sideways can show one’s coldness and superciliousness.

眼睛旁顾,态度冷淡,目空一切的眼神。

This expression in one’s eyes is an aggressive act. 带有侵略性的眼神。

The speakers are having eyeball contact with each other. 谈话人之间的目光交流。

A woman using a closed posture is to avoid the straight sight from a man. 以封闭的体态回避男士直射来的目光。
