Assigned: 2010/11/26 Due: 2010/12/17 Project Mercy killing should not be legalized Title Project Mercy killing should not be legalized. Mercy killing is to kill people. It Description demeans the value of human life and underestimates the power of the human spirit. Life is so important for everybody. People should cherish their lives. Reasons against mercy killing are as follows: 1. Mercy killing would not only be for people who are \"terminally ill\". What is the definition of \"terminally ill\"? This is a controversial issue in our times. For example, some laws define \"terminal\" condition as one from which death will occur in a \"relatively short time\". Others state that \"terminal\" means that death is expected within six months or less. The kind of difference may take place to extend mercy killing to those who aren't real \"terminally ill\". 2. Mercy killing is a rejection of the importance and value of human life. Life is so precious. Patients should try their best to prevail incurable disease. No matter what happens, we have to face up to the facts, we should live on with great courage, we should believe in wonder. Nothing is impossible. People are not only living for themselves, but also for their families and our society. Choice for leaving the world means they refuse to take their responsibility to themselves. 3. People may abuse mercy killing when it becomes legalized. If the patients require using mercy killing, doctors won’t try their best to save patients. The doctors’ right will be obvious. Doctors are given too much power, which may be wrong or unethical. Patients put their faith and trust in the opinions of their doctor. It transforms itself from the \"right to die\" to \"right to kill\". Timeline From November 26th to December 2nd : 1. Make a discussion and support the view about “Mercy killing should not be legalized”. 2. Seek for the articles about mercy killing, and summarize our arguments to finish the first draft.
