Date Aug. 19, 1993.A cellularmobile telephone system of the TDMA-type has a plurality of mobile radio units whichare connected via radio channels with a communication network that includes radio basestations. Monitoring and signalling between the base stations and the mobile radio unitsis effected with at least one signal flow, among other things responsible for maintainingthe physical connection. A second signal flow is used that is responsible, among otherthings, for transmitting certain data (such as Short Message Service SMS) which is notconcerned with maintaining the connection. Considering the first and second signal flowson the data link level (level 2), devices provided for aborting the physical connection areactivated when devices monitoring the first and second signal flows indicate a brokenconnection based on the first signal flow, not on the second signal flow.
