Passage 1
A young man is sitting in the bus. An old women gets on the bus and stands in front of him. The young man stands up. The women pushes him back into his teat and says,“Don’t stands up. I don’t want to sit down.” The bus stops then. The man stands up again. The women pushes him down and says,“You don’t have to give me your seat. I like to stand.” The bus stops again. The man stands up for the third time. The woman tries to push him down again. The man shouts,“Don’t push me , please. I have to get off the bus!” Passage 2
Mary is seven. She can go to school. It is the first day at school. Her teachers are very good. The other children are very friendly. She likes the school very much. After school, she goes home with the other children. The next day, she doesn’t go home with the other children. She asks a question to the teacher, Miss Brown.“What did I do at school today?”“Why do you ask me the question?”Miss Brown asks her. “Because my mother will ask me the question at home.” Passage 3
Tom is seven. He goes to school every day. The school is near his home, so he goes there on foot and come back home on time. But today he is late. His mother asks him,“Why are you late today?” “I am in the headmaster’s office.”
“Why do you go to the headmaster’s office?”
“Because my teacher asks us a question in the class. Nobody can answer it, but I can.”
“It’s good to answer the teacher’s question.” “But the question is—Who puts ink on my chair?” Passage 4
Driver: Hello, sir. I want to go to the Moon Hotel. Do you know it? Old man: Yes, let me get on. I’ll show you the way. (They drive about ten miles, and come to a small house.) Old man: Stop here! Driver: But this isn’t a hotel.
Old man: No, this is my house. And now I’ll show you the way to the Moon Hotel. Go back nine miles. Then you’ll see the Moon Hotel on the left.
