The Critics of Saving Face

Saving Face is a well designed romantic films about traditional concept among Chinese people. It is about Wil and her mother's the story and they are living in a traditional Chinese family. In the film, Wil is a good surgeon who treats her mother as good as possible, however,she is not interested in boys, so she always wears conservatively and always has a date with her girlfriend ,Vivian who is a beautiful ballerina. At first, everything goes as it were, but when Wil's mother announced her pregnancy ,something began to change. Her mother was afraid of being looked down upon by the traditional community,so she refused to disclose the identity of the man. Wil tried her best to know her mother deeply, but it seems very hard because of so called saving face . From then on, Wil began to help her mother find a husband, however, her mother did not like anyone. Finally her mother was forced to marry a man who loves her for 15 years. When they step into the auditorium, Wil received a letter from her mother's lover, and knew the truth about her mother, so she stopped her mother's wedding and encouraged her mother to find her true love. At that time, Wil and Vivian has broken up with each other and Vivian will go to Paris to practice ballet. When her mother is willing to face up her true feeling, she also encourage Wil to be brave in face of their true love. Then they rushed to the airport immediately and

said 'I love you' to Vivian. Though it did not save Vivian to leave, at least Wil has admitted her true feeling. Finally they find their true love and live together happily.

Wil dare not admit her true love while her mother does not disclose who is the father of her child. Both of them are falling in love with someone, but they can only choose to be silent because of their face and many concerns, even to give up. In order to save face, her mother has experienced a tragic marriage. If her mother is not brave enough, she will lead to another tragedy in marriage. I admire their brave in the films. No matter gay or elder sister and younger brother love, will accepted by their family. In fact, our dignity sometimes in feelings especially before love will collapse of itself. So when you feel love, please be brave enough to face it and treasure it or you will lead a unhappy life.There are lots of things which are not important as we think would confused us. So please follow your own mind and chase what you want. Do not want to cherish after you losing.

But for my part, I still can not accept a marriage between gay and elder sister and younger brother love, it is quite strange and unacceptable.And maybe this kind of relationship will effect the growth of their children. I would prefer to have a normal marriage.
