Teaching Aim:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a story. Teaching Important Points:
1. Teach the students to pay attention to the tense used in writing a story. 2. Teach the students to use linking words to complete a coherent composition. Teaching Methods: Discussion and group work. Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warm-up: (1) Explain teaching aims.
(2) Ask students to read the story on page 90 and finish the match exercise on page 31. Give them the layout.
(3) Ask students to find some verbs and linking words in the story. Step 2 Writing: Ask students to write a story following the stages below: (1) Setting the scene: Decide who the hero/heroine of your story is and what he/she was doing before the action started. (2) Development: Draw a timeline of the main events.
(3) Conclusion: Refer to moods, people’s reactions, feelings, comments… Step 3 Discussion:
(1) Evaluation: Let the students work in groups of four to give scores according to the table below:
